Project Overview
A Private Collaboration Network

Qaxa is a private collaboration network. Think of Google Docs, Slack and Drive combined but everything encrypted by default. In the world of increased surveillance, Qaxa values privacy as its founding principle.

The main idea for the visual identity stems from the symbol of communication in 21st century—a chat bubble. So we drew a bespoke word mark that shows it in on multiple levels. The Q can act as a holding device for extra content.  To add an extra layer of approachability, we are using a set of illustrations that soften up the space even more but also add a necessary texture that the usual polished SaaS identities lack.

The result is a rather unexpected combination of elements for a typical SaaS company. Most importantly the brand identity is set up as a system with various templates for the client that are ready to use — and be recognizable.

How did we do it

Logo & Animation

To soften up the space of cold SaaS (software as service) products we purposefully drew the word mark chubby. It is a nod to type treatments known from legends like Herb Lubalin.

To make the shape expandable, the Q has two points at the top and the bottom instead of one to allow for this.

Type Pairing

To contrast the sharpness of the word mark, we paired it with a beautiful and curvy typeface called Bradford from a premium type foundry Lineto both with regular and italic cuts.
